Sports Massage

Repetitive stress (as in sports), poor movement patterns and poor posture can lead to chronic pain and shortening of muscle fibers. A sports massage is a focused deep tissue massage used to restore an ideal state of resting muscle tissue length. The result is decreased pain, increased ROM and flexibility, and a more balanced musculature leading to a higher level of performance and better quality of life. My massage sessions may include orthopedic techniques, myofascial release, BMT and assisted stretching.

Assisted Stretching and Stretch Therapy

Stretching protocols are an important part of maintenance and recovery. Assisted stretching is a fantastic addition to any workout routine and is important to maintain an active lifestyle and maximize performance. I can also design passive stretching routines you can do at home.

Myofascial Release

Myofascial release is a massage modality useful in treating skeletal muscle immobility and pain by relaxing contracted muscles, improving blood and lymphatic circulation, and stimulating the stretch reflex in muscles. Fascial restrictions occur for multiple reasons including poor posture and overuse. Myofascial release helps eliminate these restrictions and restore healthy movement patterns.

Posture and Movement Assessment

Your first session will include a postural analysis and movement assessment. This assessment allows me to determine where, if any, imbalances exist in your body and help me design a treatment protocol that best fits your needs. Treatment plans may include any combination of sports massage, assisted stretching and corrective exercise.
